Dr. Aiko Aida, an art historian with a background in digital humanities, has joined the Consuming Nature project as a postdoctoral researcher. She was a curator at Hyogo Prefectural Museum of History for sixteen years, during which time she received her PhD from Kanazawa University in 2013. She has held various postdoctoral positions, including two Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Fellowships between 2019-2026.
On the Consuming Nature project, Dr. Aida is working on the commercialization of nature imagery from classical Japanese literature within popular culture. She also serves as digital humanities coordinator, responsible for setting up the project database together with the Principal Investigator, training team members, and providing advice about digital archives and tools related to Japanese art history, museums and, galleries.
