Applications are invited for a three year postdoctoral position (with possibility of extension for a fourth year) as part of the “Consuming Nature” project at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. The working language of the project is English.
Subject area: The successful candidate will work on nature, early modernity, and Japanese print culture and/or material culture, addressing research questions compatible with the aims of the Consuming Nature project. Candidates who wish to do so are invited to contact the project director, Prof. Rebekah Clements (Rebekah.clements@icrea.cat) to discuss their proposed research topic before submitting an application.
Expected outputs:
- Contribution to the project’s database of primary sources.
- A monograph or series of articles on nature, early modernity, and Japanese print culture/material culture.
- Co-editing a special journal issue with other members of the project.
- Assisting with the project seminar series and conference.
- Regular presentation of research findings at conferences and workshops.
- Full compliance with ERC open science and open access policies: all publications, data, and research outputs produced within the project must follow the Horizon Europe open access protocols and be deposited in open repositories, in accordance with ERC guidelines (https://erc.europa.eu/manage-your-project/open-science and https://rea.ec.europa.eu/open-science_en
Salary: 42,000-47,000 euros per year, based on skills and experience, plus social security contributions paid in accordance with Spanish law, providing access to public healthcare and the public pension.
The project also provides generous funding for fieldwork, the purchase of books, and conference travel in addition to the salary. The successful candidate will be provided with a working space at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in a shared office with other members of the project, and will be expected to be regularly present in the office to collaborate with other members of the team. This position does not allow for remote working, other than during periods of pre-approved fieldwork.
